Precision Forming
The VDT (Variable Die Tool) and back gauge are computer controlled to
accurately bend/form parts .
For instance, the two rams are set to stay parallel with each
other to within .0004”. It
has a 24-foot bed and can bend a ¾” mild steel plate approximately
20-feet long or a 1” mild steel plate 16 feet long.
The opening between the uprights is 20’-4”, allowing a full
twenty foot sheet to be run completely through the machine.
The Pentium based controller allows the part to be bent
“electronically” the first time to determine required parameters.
Once the machine is set, it remembers and can bend identical
pieces tomorrow, next week or next year.
When linked to the accuracy gained through laser cutting,
difficult curved surfaces become much easier to complete successfully,
with little deformation and minimal extra work.
We can do V-Crimp, corrugations and rolled/formed cones with this
machine
